Teacher Manual (Instructor)

For teachers. In this app “Instructor” means Teacher. Your home is /instructor with 4 links: Courses, Students, Sessions, and Chat. Your analytics live on /dashboard (my courses, students, sessions, upcoming classes).

1. Manage your courses

1

Open My Courses

Click Courses in the sidebar, or go to /instructor/courses. You see only courses where you are the teacher. Each row shows counts of enrolled students, materials, and sessions.

2

Search and filter

At the top there is a search box (type a course title and press Enter — it is a GET form) and grade pills like All plus each grade name. Click a grade pill to filter the list.

3

Open a course — learn the 5 tabs

Click a course to open /instructor/courses/[id]. Inside CourseDetailTabs you get 5 tabs: Dashboard, Sessions, Editor (chapters and lessons), Materials, Settings. Your last tab is remembered on this device.

Who can enrol students?

The Enroll Student button inside a course is visible only to Admin and Manager roles. As a teacher you can view enrolled students, but enrolment is done by admin/manager — or automatically for students of the same grade when the course opens.

2. Add chapters and lessons (Editor tab)

1

Open the Editor tab

Inside your course, click the Editor tab. You see the list of chapters, each expandable to show its lessons.

2

Add a chapter

Click Add Chapter. In the dialog, enter the chapter title, chapter number, and description, then click Save / Create. The new chapter appears in the list.

3

Add a lesson inside a chapter

Expand the chapter, then click Add Lesson. Enter the lesson title, index number, and content. To attach a file, click Upload file (PDF, video, image) — while uploading the button shows Uploading.... Click Save. To change it later, click the pencil Edit Lesson button on that lesson.

3. Upload course materials

1

Two ways to upload

Fast way: on the Dashboard tab click Upload Material — it jumps you to the Materials tab. Or click the Materials tab directly.

2

Upload a file

In CourseMaterialsManager, fill Title (and optional Description), click Upload File, choose a PDF, video, image, or document, and wait until it changes from Uploading... back to Upload File. The file appears in the “Uploaded” list below with date and type.

Students see it instantly

Anything in the Uploaded list is visible to enrolled students under their Materials tab and on /student/materials. Delete a wrong file from the same list.

4. Create a live session (class)

1

Start a new session

Two equal ways: (a) inside your course on the Dashboard tab click New Session, or (b) go to /instructor/sessions and click Create Session / New Session. Both open /instructor/sessions/new?course_id=... with the SessionForm.

2

Fill the SessionForm

Select Course (“Select a course”), type Session Title (example “Math - Chapter 3 Live Class”), optional Description (“What will be covered?”), pick Date and Time, and choose Duration (30 min, 45 min, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 2 hours).

3

Click Create Session

Click Create Session. While saving it shows Creating.... On success you return to /instructor/sessions. If fields are missing you see “Please fill in all required fields”. Click Cancel to go back without saving.

4

Find it in Upcoming / Past

Open /instructor/sessions. New classes appear under Upcoming; old ones move to Past. Click a session to open /instructor/sessions/[id] with the Meet link, student count, and attendance.

5. Mark attendance

1

Open the session detail

Go to /instructor/sessions, click the session title. You see stats, the Meet link code block, the enrolled list, and the AttendanceForm.

2

Mark present / absent

For speed, click Mark all Present or Mark all Absent, then fix exceptions by toggling individual students (Present / Absent toggle per row).

3

Save

Click Save Attendance. Students see the result as attendance badges on /student/sessions and inside their course Sessions tab.

6. Students list — /instructor/students

1

Open Students

Click Students in the sidebar, or go to /instructor/students. At the top is a grade filter (All + each grade). As a teacher you see only students enrolled in your courses (enrolled-only); admin and manager see every student (view-all).

2

Search and open a student

In StudentPageClient, type a name or email in the search box and press Enter. Click a student row to see their courses, progress %, and grades. From here you can jump to their course or start a chat.

7. Session detail — /instructor/sessions/[id] (Meet + Attendance)

1

How you get here

From /instructor/sessions (Upcoming / Past) or from a course Sessions tab, click the session title or Attendance. Breadcrumb shows Sessions / Session title.

2

Read the 3 info cards

Course card (course title), Date card (weekday, month, day), Time card (hour:minute + duration in min). These come from the session you created.

3

Google Meet card

Card titled Google Meet with text “Share this link with students to join the class” and a badge Active (upcoming) or Ended (past). The code block shows the Meet URL or “No Google Meet link generated”. If a link exists, click Join Meet to open it; otherwise you see No Link.

4

Attendance card

Card titled Attendance with “Mark students as present, absent, or late” and a count badge like 12 students. Inside AttendanceForm: use Mark all Present / Mark all Absent, fix exceptions per row (Present / Absent / Late), then click Save Attendance.

Only your sessions

If you open another teacher's session you are redirected back to /instructor/sessions. Admins and managers can open any session.
